Cutting Boards

Each board is handmade and unique.

I sell cutting boards at various pop-up events around Morris County. Please email me if you are interested in seeing what's currently available or would like to request a custom-made cutting board.

Wooden cutting boards can be made in any of three grain orientations: flat, edge, or end grain. Each has its virtues and admirers. This blog from RJF Custom Designs gives an excellent overview of the differences between grain orientations. 

I have chosen to make (mostly) end-grain boards for their interesting design possibilities and they are most "knife friendly" - I want them to be beautiful cutting boards, not show pieces.

My primary concern in choosing wood and finishes is that they be food safe. Some of my favorite species of wood to work with are maple, cherry, black walnut, and yellow pine. I use a two-step finish:
